Why Missions

The need for missions is rooted in the character of God and the need of man. God has provided for that need and commissioned His followers to bring the good news to all men.

God's Character

“He . . . is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords.” (1 Timothy 6:15)

“God is love.” (1 John 4:16)

“He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.” (Exodus 34:7)

Man's Need

“[F]or all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

“The soul who sins will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4b)

God's Provision

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

The Great Commission

“And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'” (Mark 16:15)

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
